What this covers

Stonegate Partners Pty Ltd (ACN 695 914 660), trading as Fifty Finance, collects information about you so that we can arrange finance on your behalf. We handle that information in line with Australia's privacy and credit reporting laws, including the Privacy Act 1988, the Australian Privacy Principles and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code.

What we collect and why

We collect credit and personal information about you, and where relevant about a company of which you are a director, so we can:

  • source consumer credit for personal, household, domestic or residential investment purposes
  • source commercial credit for business purposes
  • support a guarantor application you provide
  • arrange any insurances you ask us to look at

As your broker we need this information to assess your application, choose a suitable credit provider and manage the application through to settlement. If you do not give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to process your application, or we may be limited in what else we can help with.

How we disclose it

When you apply, we use your information to assess the application and find a suitable credit provider, lessor or insurer. Specifically, we may:

  • disclose your identification information to a credit reporting body if you ask us to obtain a report on your behalf
  • use the information in that report to make a preliminary assessment of your consumer credit or guarantor application
  • disclose your personal information to an insurer to source insurance you have asked for
  • disclose your credit information to a credit provider to apply for finance on your behalf

Your information is used only for the purposes set out here. We do not disclose it to anyone else except with your permission, or where we are permitted or required to by law.

Our credit provider panel

We may submit your credit application to one or more credit providers from our panel of lenders. Which providers we approach depends on what you are financing and on your circumstances, so the panel is described here rather than listed, and the list changes over time.

An up to date list of our credit provider panel, including each provider's website address and a link to its privacy policy, is available on request. Contact us at [email protected] and we will send you the current list.

What a credit provider may do with your information

Once we submit an application, the credit provider may:

  • give information about you to a credit reporting body, and obtain information about you from one
  • use your information to assess the application and your creditworthiness
  • come back to us, or to you, for further information
  • make any further enquiries it needs to meet its responsible lending obligations
  • use your information for its own direct marketing, which you can ask it to stop at any time

Each provider has its own privacy policy

Every credit provider runs its own privacy and credit reporting policies. Those documents, not this one, govern what that provider collects and holds, how it uses and discloses your information, which credit reporting bodies it deals with, whether your information may be sent overseas and to which countries, how you can access and correct what it holds, and how to complain about the way it has handled your information.

You will usually find this on the provider's own website under a heading such as Privacy Policy, Credit Reporting Policy or Notifiable Matters. You can also ask the provider for a copy directly, or ask us and we will point you to it.

Credit providers and credit reporting bodies

As part of arranging your finance we may carry out tasks for a credit provider that are reasonably necessary to manage the application. When we do that we are acting as an intermediary for the credit provider rather than for you.

A credit provider we submit an application to may disclose information about you to a credit reporting body. Each credit provider publishes, on its own website, details of the credit reporting bodies it uses, how those bodies handle your information, and how you can deal with them directly. That includes asking a credit reporting body not to use your information for direct marketing pre-screening, and asking it not to disclose your information if you believe you are a victim of fraud.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. Contact us at [email protected] and we will tell you what we hold and how to have it corrected. In some cases an administration fee may apply to cover the cost of retrieving records. A copy of this policy is available on request.

If you have a complaint

Talk to us first

We have internal procedures for handling complaints and we would rather hear about a problem than not. Email [email protected] and we will work to resolve it quickly and fairly.

If we cannot resolve it

If we have not resolved your complaint to your satisfaction, or you have not had a response from us within 30 days, you can escalate it to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. AFCA is a free and independent dispute resolution service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version published on this page is the current one.

Arranging finance also involves a Credit Guide and a Privacy Disclosure Statement and Consent, which set out our obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009, the fees and charges that may apply, and the consents you give us. Josh provides those documents directly before any credit assistance begins.
